BC United joins NPL’s Great Lakes Alliance for 2022/23

BC United is proud to announce that the Club will join the Great Lakes Alliance (GLA) for the 2022/23 season. In the Club’s inaugural season in the competition, the 2007 Girls and 2005 Boys will play a full season of fixtures.

Founded in 2017, BC United is the lowest-cost Premier soccer club in Western Pennsylvania. The Club seeks to minimize the impact of the pay-for-play model of soccer in the United States by offering high-level coaching and competition at minimal cost. The Club has proven themselves through dozens of tournament medals and has begun placing players in college programs in the region.

“BC United is very happy to join the GLA,” said Derek Zona, Executive Director. “The league gives us a higher level of competition than that of what we can engage in locally, and it gives us much needed exposure on the regional level. The exposure allows for greater access to the college pathway for our players who choose to matriculate to college.”

“These two teams have been with us since the club was founded,” said Zona. “They, more than any others, are prepared to demonstrate what it means to be a BC United player. They love the badge and truly understand who we are and why we do what we do. I’m proud to watch them move into this upper-tier league.”

The Great Lakes Alliance (GLA) was formed in 2017 and currently has over 550 teams participating in its US Club sanctioned league. GLA has member clubs coming out of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia with approximately 8500 players. GLA is a member of the U.S. Club Soccer National Premier League (NPL) platform and the U.S. Soccer Federation.
